What to bring with you.

​

Here are a few suggestions of things you might like to bring with you, but if all else fails just bring your IFYE Spirit, a sense of adventure and fun.

TRAVEL INSURANCE - Unfortunately flights do get delayed and luggage sometimes like to take a less than direct route - so please be prepared. You are advised to have travel insurance that covers health, luggage and cancellations of all types.  Please check your own countries advise regarding a European Health Card (E111) in England.  Presently the residents of some countries can use the National Health Service (England) at no cost and others cannot.  It is your responsibility to check your status.

CLOTHING FOR ALL WEATHERS - The north of England is renown for its rain in all it's forms from thunderstorms to light drizzle.  However we are meeting together in August, the school summer holidays, so maybe we might get to see the sunshine - please!  This means come prepared for all types of August weather from gale force winds and rain to hopefully hot, dry and sunny days.  You can check the local weather forecast at: bbc.co.uk/weather.

CLOTHING FOR SPECIAL EVENTS - There will be an opening ceremony on Sunday morning, and group photographs.  You may wish to wear your national costume.  There will also be a fancy dress themed evening - see more details below. A formal dinner of the Thursday evening when you may wish to dress up a little.  Many events will require short walks around the grounds and local area, so please bring sensible outdoor footwear.

SHOES AND CLOTHES FOR WALKING - For those who are more adventurous and experienced walkers there will also be an opportunity for a day's fell walking in the Lake District - over 10km.  You will need walking boots, waterproof clothing and  a small rucksack to carry your lunch and water.

TOWELS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED - please bring your own.

Bed linen is provided, and you will need to put the linen on your bed at the beginning of the week.  At the end of your stay you will nee to remove all the linen and take in to the laundry room.

ODDS AND ENDS - Toiletries, personal medication, sunscreen and sunglass (in case the sun makes an appearance), an adaptor for electrical items - Please remember that the UK uses three pin plugs.

Phone chargers will also be required.

TOMBOLA GIFT - In case you have never been before there will be a raffle/tombola on Thursday and as usual the prizes will consist of small gifts from all the conference participants.

CASH FOR TOMBOLA TICKETS, T-SHIRTS, BAR ETC - There is no ATM on site and you will have limited access to banks throughout the week.  England uses £ sterling.

THEME NIGHT - There will be a Lancashire themed night so if you have something red to add to your outfit that would be great (socks, t-shirt, hat, hair) or something else!!
