2. Visit the Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead.

Coniston Village sits at the northern end of Coniston Water in England’s Lake District. It is a village steeped in history and surrounded by striking natural landscapes. Dominated by the towering presence of the Old Man of Coniston, the area attracts walkers, climbers, and history enthusiasts alike. Its legacy of mining, literary connections, and associations with key figures like John Ruskin and Donald Campbell make it a fascinating destination. You will have time to wander around this beautiful village

Hawkshead, a historic village in the Lake District, has origins dating back to Norse settlements. Once owned by Furness Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1537, the village later developed into a thriving market town. Its 17th-century buildings, narrow streets, and open squares are well-preserved, maintaining the charm admired by both William Wordsworth and visitors today. Cars are prohibited from the village centre, with a car park conveniently located just outside, allowing visitors to explore on foot.

Give yourself time to walk up to the Church of St Michaels and all Angels, or take refreshments in one of the tea shops or public houses,

3 - Fell walking in the Lake District

For those who are more adventurous and experienced walkers there will also be an opportunity for a day's fell walking in the Lake District - over 10km.  You will need walking boots, waterproof clothing and  a small rucksack to carry your lunch and water.

The route will take you from Coniston around the Lake District fells, and the route will be determined by the weather conditions.

You MUST be an experienced walker with the appropriate walking boots and clothing.  You will be walking with a group at a pace set by the group leaders.

You should be prepared to walk for over 4 hours.
